General Troubleshooting

For SE.Live-specific issues, see SE.Live Troubleshooting instead.

Chatbot not responding, or events not appearing

Section titled “Chatbot not responding, or events not appearing”
  1. Part the bot from your channel.
  2. Log out of the dashboard.
  3. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
  4. Open your browser’s developer console, go to the Network tab, and enable Disable cache.
  5. Log back in and re-add the bot to your channel.

Start by removing and reconnecting permissions:

  1. Go to Google Account Connections and remove StreamElements’ access.
  2. Log back into StreamElements to reconnect it.

Keep in mind the YouTube chatbot and events only work during live, public streams — nothing will happen on offline, private, or unlisted streams, and if either you or a viewer has a private account, that viewer’s events won’t trigger. Events can also take up to 4 hours to appear due to YouTube’s own reporting delays.

If the bot still isn’t responding once you’re live:

  1. Wait 20–30 minutes after going live — the bot can take a little while to join automatically.
  2. If it still hasn’t joined, log out and back into StreamElements.
  3. Remove and re-add the bot from your dashboard to restore the connection.

Confirm your viewers are actually using your StreamElements tipping page — tips sent through a different service won’t show up in your Activity Feed.

Goal widgets only track increments — they don’t automatically adjust down if someone unsubscribes or unfollows. Update your progress manually from your Goals settings if it looks off.

First check that alerts aren’t paused or muted in your Activity Feed. Then confirm your overlay is properly added to OBS — see Add an overlay to your broadcast software.

Scene transitions not working on linked scenes

Section titled “Scene transitions not working on linked scenes”

Give each scene a unique name — if two scenes share the exact same name, the link between them breaks. See Manage scenes and sources.

Make sure Require login is explicitly set to on or off — leaving it blank causes a save error. Double-check every other field on the page is filled in too; the save fails if any are empty.

Media Request “Georestricted location” error

Section titled “Media Request “Georestricted location” error”

This means no Stream Location is set in your Media Request options — add one. If you’ve already set one and still see the error, clear your browser’s cookies and cache and try again. See Media Requests for the full setup.
